Detention block. 1852-4. Probably by Joseph Potter Jnr. Brick
with ashlar dressings; slate roof. T-plan. 4-storeys.
Modillioned brick eaves. Windows to cells altered at a later
date. Returns have gabled centre with tall 4-light ashlar
mullioned and double-transomed windows with cast-iron frames
and arched hood. Massive air shafts with panelled sides.
Rainwater heads dated 1851.
