Circa 1802, more substantial than a lock keeper's house. Two storey red brick with
painted stone dressings. Three bay symmetrical elevation to canal, the centre bay
advanced with splayed corners. Shallow frieze and moulded cornice and coped parapet
returned to sides. Late C19 wood casement window in original sash openings with
not gauged brick arched and keystones. Doric column entablature doorway to centre
break. Well proportioned canal building in fine canal junction setting.
