Pair of town houses. 1848-9, altered. Brown brick in Flemish
bond, with sandstone dressings and slate roof. Double-depth
plan, each house single-fronted, entrance-halls adjoining,
with back extensions. Two storeys and attics, 2+2 windows;
with plinth, sillband, frieze and cornice. The doorways have
pilastered architraves with cornices and blocking courses,
panelled doors and plain overlights; the windows above the
doorways are round-headed, the outer bays have stone 2-storey
canted bay windows, and all these windows with altered
glazing. No.29 has a C20 flat-roofed dormer, and No.30 to the
right has a C19 gabled half-dormer with a 2-light casement.
Coped gables, with one chimney to No.29. Rear: the back
extension to No.29 has a brick-clad water tank at 1st floor,
for the collection of roof water. Has group value with Nos 25
and 26 (q.v.) Forms part of a noteworthy mid-C19 seaside
development of villas and boarding
houses.
