Footbridge linking two islands in River Mole. Probably later C18. Flint. Single segmental span, with crudely rusticated voussoirs, a large inverted scallop shell in place of the keystone, and a similar shell in the spandrel at each side.
History: built as an ornamental feature of the grounds of Thorncroft Manor (q.v.), once attributed to Lancelot Brown but this attribution remains unsubstantiated. Also known as "Shell Bridge".
