Flight of 25 steps leading up to the churchyard. Last laid in
1884 when they replaced a flight of 1761. Sandstone ashlar.
The steps are wide and have simple nosings; they are laid in
pairs with the tread of one step about twice as long as the
one below it, so that they are easy to climb. The retaining
wall on the south side, which was rebuilt c1800 at the time of
the alterations to the Castle, shows on its inner face traces
of the rebates probably made to take the steps of 1761.
