William Cottage

House, now 2 houses; mid C16 with various extensions. Originally 3-cell
lobby-entrance plan; 2 storeys and attics; 4 windows. Timber-framed,
rendered. Thatched roof, hipped at left-hand, service, end; gable and axial
chimneys of red brick. 2- and 3-light C18 and C19 windows, some with leaded
casements, some with small-pane wrought iron casements. Early C19 6-panelled
entrance door with painted brick slated gabled entrance porch. An arched
doorway from hall to service room, now blocked. Clasped purlin roof. Further
service room added at left-hand end, with hipped roof, C.1600. Similarly,
further parlour bay added to right hand end c.1700.
