Large house. Early C17 timber-frame and painted brick, altered in C19. 2
storey and attic with modern plain tile roofs and three rebuilt ornamental
brick stacks. Main West front 3 window range with projecting gabled wings and
large dormer gable to centre. Blue lias rubble stone base. Close-studded
framing with lower tension braces to wings, timbers almost entirely renewed.
Centre with 2 bands of ornamental quadrant framed panels to lst floor.
Windows in ovolo moulded frames, 3-light casement to centre attic gable. 5
light mullion-and-transom windows elsewhere. Window frames apparently renewed
in C19. Modern central gabled porch. South front: C19 roughcast, 3 gables
with moulded bargebaords and windows under hood-moulds, 2 light attic case-
ments, 3 light mullion and transom windows elsewhere. East side, painted
brick, 2 gables, windows with gauged brick heads. Large central mullion and
2-transom stair light. Interior: 2 rooms to ground floor with altered C17
panelling. Stair hall with C18 Gothic frieze, ceiling border and central oval
panel.
