Unequal pair of enlarged cottages. C17, C19 and late C20 extensions and
restoration. Flint and brick, with a hipped thatch roof. Irregular front
(south) of 2 storeys, 4 windows: the west side (Kimpton) has a wing (of 2 storeys
1 window) projecting forward, with a garage still further forward: the east side
has a single-storeyed outshot to the front and extensive rear additions. The walls
of the old part of Kimpton are of flint, with brick quoins, bands, zig-zag ornament
between bands at 1st floor level, some lozenges, cambered openings and plinth;
there is a small oval (now filled) above the old doorway, & the doorway has a
triangular head of brickwork, containing the date 1610; the east side (Yew Tree)
has flint panels (of the early C19), with other walling of flint without bands
but with brick quoins. Casements. 3 French doors, one-beneath a thatched hood on
posts.
