Cottage. Probably late C17 - early C18, late C19 - early C20 extension. White-
washed local stone rubble; stone rubble stacks topped with plastered C20 brick
thatch roof to main house, slate to the extension.
Plan: 3-room plan cottage facing north-east and set end onto the road. The
original house is the 2-room section to right (north-west) with an unheated 1-room
plan extension on the left end set back a little from the main front. The larger
room of the original house has an axial (former gable-end) stack backing onto the
extension. The central doorway leads into this room. The smaller right end room
has a rear lateral stack but this is thougnt to be a C20 insertion. 2 storeys.
Exterior: 1:2-window front of C20 casements with glazing bars and the first floor
window of the extension contains rectangular panes of leaded glass. The front
doorway is roughly in the centre of the main block and it contains a C20 plank door
behind a contemporary thatch-roofed porch. Secondary plank door to the extension.
The main roof is half-hipped to right and gable-ended to left stepping down from the
main block to the extension.
Interior: has plain carpentry detail where exposed. The larger room of the
original house has a chamfered crossbeam and the large stone rubble fireplace has a
chamfered oak lintel and contains an oven. The roof truss is boxed into the first
floor partition and the roofspace is inaccessible.
