Farmhouse, now private house. Circa C17. Painted stone rubble with concrete
blockwork repairs at higher end on front and in higher gable end. Scantle slate roof
with hipped lower end on left and gabled higher end on right. Projecting painted
stone rubble front lateral hall chimney stack at higher end of through passage. 2
room and through passage plan with unheated lower room and hall at higher end heated
by front lateral chimney stack. Early C20 stair inserted in rear of through passage.
Outshut added at lower hipped end. Extension, circa C19, at higher gable end
demolished in mid C20.
2 storeys, asymmetrical 2-window front. Ground floor with C19 4-pane sash and
panelled entrance door to left of front lateral chimney stack. Blocked window
opening to right of chimney stack. Two C19 first floor 4-pane sashes to left of
front lateral chimney stack. Fenestration of rear elevation altered and C20
fenestration inserted in right-hand gable end when C19 extension removed.
Interior through passage flanked by timber plank and muntin screens, possibly with
C19 screen at lower side and C18 screen at higher side with slightly chamfered sole
plate and bressumer. Sole plate altered. C20 chimney piece to front lateral hall
stack. Fairly heavy chamfered ceiling beams to lower end, through passage and part
of hall with reused circa C17 and C19 ceiling beams running at right angles to those
of main range. C20 screen partitioning hall from dairy to rear.
Roof timbers replaced largely in 1930s. Lath and plaster screen closes truss above
lower side of through passage. Roof structure not fully inspected.
