GV II
2 adjoining houses including front courtyard wall. C18. Granite ashlar fronts,
otherwise coursed rubble with granite dressings. Steep grouted scantle slate roofs
with brick chimneys. Gable ends except half hip at front of Bosvean, right.
Plan: two 2-room plan houses built at right angles to each other making an overall L-
shaped plan. Chy-an-Bara, left, has its kitchen, right, behind Bosvean which
projects at right angles in front. Both houses have central cross passage entrances
and central stairs. Bosvean has a wide window opening and doorway at the front,
presumably at some time used as a shop.
Exterior: 2 storeys. 2 window and 3 window fronts at right angles. Chy-an-Bara has
C20 door, Bosvean has C19 4-panel door. Mostly circa late C19 horned sashes. 2 C19
hornless sashes at front end of Bosvean.
Interior: interior of Chy-an-Bara only inspected. Some C18 features including dog-
leg stair with column-turned balusters and robust moulded ceiling cornice in the
cross passage.
