2 cottages. C18, with C19 and C20 alterations. Rubble, partly coursed,
stone slate roofs. 2 storeys, 1:1:1: first-floor windows with rear wing to
right. Ivy Cottage (to left): part-glazed door to right, and on each floor
a C20 casement window, the first-floor stonework apparently rebuilt and
coursed; shaped kneeler and ashlar coping to right. In the centre, a
segmental-arched carriageway with ashlar voussoirs and quoined jamb to left,
with C20 casement window on first floor above. Church View (to right),
slightly projecting: quoins, on ground floor to left a part-glazed door in
quoined surround, and inscription on lintel 1708; C20 square bay window to
right, and first-floor C20 casement window; shaped kneeler, ashlar coping
and end stack to right. The roof of the left part at least was formerly
steeper and higher, as can be seen from the water-table on the west gable of
Rose Cottage (qv). Rear: quoined doorways to the rear of Ivy Cottage and on
the right return of the rear wing of Church View. Included for group value.
