House. C17 with later alterations. Painted stone ground floor, roughcast
timber-framed 1st floor and slate roof. 2 storeys with attic, 2 bays, the 1st
floor jettied. Wide eaves on beam ends. Ground floor has former shop front,
now filled with boarding, window with small-paned fixed glazing and upper
opening light, and 4-panel door with 3 top lights; to right, a 4-light wooden
mullioned window with intermediate bars and leaded glazing. 1st floor has
projecting wooden mullioned windows with transoms and leaded glazing, of 3
lights and 4 lights; small right return has sashed window with glazing bars.
Attic has gabled tile-hung dormers with casements. Rear has 3-light wooden
mullioned window. Property of the National Trust, the gift of Beatrix Potter.
