II

Farmhouse, exterior probably circa 1840 of smooth-rendered brick with
steep grey slate roof, interior with late C17/early C18 features. 2
storeys plus attic. Roman Doric doorcase with pilasters, flat
entablature and panelled reveals contains 4-panel door with
margin-paned overlight. A parapeted single-storey canted bay window
to each side of door has 3 recessed 16-pane sashes; 3 recessed 16-pane
sashes to upper storey. 2 small-pane iron casements in each end-gable
to attic. Cheese room of 1 storey plus attic abuts the 1-bay rear
wing.
The Interior suggests a building of circa 1700, recased. Corner
chimney breast in front room left; inglenook against right gable wall
with small fire-window; oak stair of 1 flight per storey with newels
and 2 turned balusters per step, the balusters of the lower flight
cased in hardboard; oak stop-chamfered beams in right room of main
block and in rear wing. Broad-boarded doors to rear rooms of lower
storey and most upper rooms.
