Cottage. C16, C17, C18 recladding, with minor c19 and C20 alterations and restora-
tion. Exposed frame with infill of coursed flint, brick quoins, flat arches (with
stone keys), ground floor cill band, and stone plinth: boarded walls to the north
side outshot. Hipped thatch roof, with catslide to the north side. A late
medieval timber-framed hall of 2 bays, with C17 timber-framed extensions at each
end and along the north side (forming a continuous outshot), insertion of upper
floor and fireplace (replaced in smaller form C19), exterior reclad; altered to
form 2 cottages and again to restore as one. 2 storeys, irregular fenestration.
Casements, 5 C19 cast iron 'Tudor' frames, and a ) frame with glass marked 1866 and
1884. Boarded door. Interior has exposed framing, indicating the stages of
construction, with some wattle and iron infill of the frame (within the outshot).
Said to have been visited by Charles I.
