Houses, now shops and dwellings. Nos.3 and 5 are C17, No.7 late C16 (VCH);
refaced and altered, and No.7 heightened, early/mid C19. Timber framed with lath
and plaster and brick infill. Front plastered. Nos.3 and 5 have tile roof, No.7
slate; brick stacks to rear. Nos.3 and 5 are U-plan. 2 storeys and attic;
2-window range. Mid/late C19 shop fronts. No.3 has glazed door with overlight,
wood pilasters with incised ornament and entablature, and bay window with thin
shafts with moulded capitals and bases. No.5 projects, with wooden pilasters and
fascia, and recessed glazed door with overlight. Central plank door to through
passage. On first floor No.3 has 16-pane sash, No.5 four-pane sash with cornice
on consoles. 2 casement dormers. Right return side faced in C20 brick; beyond, 2
timber framed ranges, with lath and plaster and brick infill respectively, and
separate roofs. To rear timber framed gabled wings with jowled posts and
whitewashed brick infill. Some leaded light casements with crown glass. No.3
partly underbuilt with whitewashed brick; first floor part rendered. Old plank
door. End of No.5 underbuilt in C20 brick. Interior: Much exposed framing.
Chamfered ceiling beams, Old plank doors with strap hinges. No,7: L-plan. 3
storeys; 2-window range. Late C19 projecting shop front has central half-glazed
double-leaf doors with overlight. 2 bays with thin shafts. Continuous dentil
cornice and fascia. Entrance to through passage on left has old plank door with
strap hinges and overlight, with late C16 (VCH) moulded oak surround. Upper
floors have sashes, 16-pane on first floor. To rear large rendered gable with
original 3-light wood mullioned window, and smaller adjacent gable. Large stack
with star shafts. Ground floor obscured by late C20 additions. Interior: Much
exposed framing throughout. Stepped stop-chamfered ceiling beams. Noted as
having open fireplace. C17 six-panelled door with spring latch. 2-panelled doors
with 3-plank backs. Late C16 open well staircase from first to second floor has
moulded newel and splat balusters.
