Farmhouse. C16. Alterations dated 1628 and 1745. Timber framed with brick
infill. Front of regular coursed limestone. Double-span old roofs, mostly of
plain-tiles; brick ridge stacks. Through-passage 3-span plan. 2 storeys and
attic; 3-window range. Symmetrical front. Moulded basket arch doorway has old
studded door of 4 vertical panels. Moulded string course breaks over door. Low
3-light and central 2-light recessed ovolo-moulded mullioned windows. Moulded
string course above first floor. Very high parapet with central finial, probably
originally twin gables with parapet built up between them. Moulded kneelers to
left and right have finials. Large moulded painted stone panel with cornice has
horizontally-set oval inscribed DP 1745, and 4 corner roundels. Irregular left
return side has right corner and ground-floor left corner of stone. 3-window
range. Left corner has string course. Gabled part to left of centre has single
attic light. C20 five-light ground floor window. Paired 2-light casements to
first floor. C19 two-light casements throughout have horizontal glazing bar.
2-light mullioned cellar window to right. Right return side has datestone 1628
on first floor on left. 2-window range. C20 four-light casements. Rear is
largely rebuilt in C19 brick. 3 gables. Interior: exposed framing and beams.
Room on left has ogee stop-chamfered beam. Fireplace has moulded architrave.
Straight-flight staircase between walls has landing balustrade of C17 turned
balusters. Gallery overlooking front door has Cl6/C17 balustrade of bulbous
turned balusters and newels with finials. Panelled room on first floor; door has
some linenfold panelling. Old 2-panelled and 8-panelled doors.
