The Lodge and attached walls


Lodge to Cookridge Hall (qv), now house, with boundary walls
to W and E. c1830. For Richard Wormald. Coursed squared
gritstone and ashlar, slate roof.
2 storeys, 1 x 2 bays, corner site with canted bay facing
junction with Holt Lane, entrance on right return. Former sash
windows, plain sills and lintels, on front and right return to
1st floor they are under pedimented gable with carving in the
tympanum and deep console brackets. Moulded string course and
recessed panels below and flanking the front 1st-floor window.
2 corniced ridge stacks.
Walling: to left return coursed stone, linking to outbuilding;
to right a low ornamental wall with plinth, solid stone panels
with circular piercings, chamfered coping, overall length
approx 15m from house curving to Holt Lane.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
One of the new buildings by Richard Wormald shortly after he
bought the estate in 1820.
