Barn and attached outbuildings. Early-mid C17 barn in English bond brickwork, with C18 random bond work and mid-C19 Flemish bond work extension to east of south end, and mid-C19 clay lump extension to west.
PLAN: 5 bay barn aligned east-west, with extensions enclosing yard to south.
BARN: EXTERIOR with C19 plank double doors to threshing floor has pentice linking extensions to south side where raising in C19 brick has taken place. INTERIOR has C18 collar trusses with tenoned collars and 2 tiers of staggered butt-purlins; mid-C19 elbowed truss with lap-jointed collars to east; some timbers re-used from late C16/ C17 floor beams and framing. OUTBUILDINGS: to east of south end is a mid-C18 single storey range with doors under eaves to east elevation. At its southern end, making an L-plan extending to west and enclosing south side of yard, is a mid- C19 stable with central stable door to north. To west of south end is a mid-C19 shelter shed, open with timber posts to east side.
The C17 barn, which is contemporary with the stable (item 6/10007) and probably Old Hall Farmhouse (item 6/28) is part of a rare surviving group of high-status buildings relating to the management of a C17 estate. The C18 and C19 additions, built in the vernacular tradition, form significant components of the building group.
