Includes: Arts A and B including courtyard pool UNIVERSITY OF
SUSSEX.
University arts building. 1962-66. Sir Basil Spence. Red brick
and bare board-marked concrete. Timber windows. Flat roofs.
Single storey lecture theatre block to south with staggered
walls and tower comprising paired slabs of concrete linked
near the base. Blind walls. Courtyard to north with cloister
walls to 3 sides, beneath segmental arches; pool to fourth
side. 2-storey buildings to east and west; 4-storey range to
north. Each have vertical articulation with strips of brick
between windows. Arts A extension of 1992 is not included.
