30/03/93 kerbstones to pool

GV II*

Arts centre including theatre, exhibition spaces and coffee
bar. 1967-69. Sir Basil Spence. Brick with some bare concrete.
Flat roofs. Comprises complex multi-segmental circular forms,
including tall central cylinder with segmental projections and
lower surrounding circles and part-circles. Walls largely
blind but circles breached in places for vertical slit
windows, and sometimes linked by horizontal bands of glazing.
Metal window frames. Cafe overlooks small pool of segmental
shape. INTERIOR: not inspected.
