4 houses. C17 with later restorations. Timber-frame with brick
infill; gabled old tile roofs with 2 partly renewed brick
stacks to front of ridge, stack to rear of ridge and stack in
slope of roof to right return of cross wing. 3-unit plan plus
cross-wing.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 4-window range. 3-panel-high
timber-framing with braced wall plates. Right end has C19
decorative barge-boards to tile-hung gable head; ground floor
has window with 2-light C20 small-paned casement with window
with 3-light casement with leaded glazing above. Left return
has small 2-light wood-mullioned window with leaded glazing,
re-entrant stack and ground-floor window to main range with
2-light leaded casement. Right return has large lean-to
addition to left of centre with window and open porch; 2-light
leaded casement above and stack on roof slope; to right an
entrance and windows with small-paned casements; rear has C20
single-storey lean-to addition.
No.22 has entrance with C20 door to left of 2 windows with
2-light glazing, that to left with iron opening casement;
5-light wood-mullioned window with iron opening casement to
first floor.
No.23 has entrance with C20 door and open gabled porch; window
to right has C20 small-paned casement; similar 4-light
casement to first floor; left return and rear wing have C20
casements.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
The cottages appear on a painting of c1696 in the great hall
at Charlecote Park (qv).
