GV II

Stable block, now time-share accommodation. C18 with 1860s
alterations and extensive 1980s alterations. Brick laid to
Flemish bond; hipped Welsh slate roof with ashlar cross-axial
stacks. E-plan with cross-wings to rear.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 11-window range plus projecting 2-window
hipped ends, the right end now with attached late C20
single-storey wing. Brick impost band, and plat band over
ground floor; top modillioned brick cornice. Central
round-headed entrance of rusticated ashlar with tripartite
keystone. Ground floor has round-headed entrances with C20
glazing. First floor has central Diocletian window; other
windows have rubbed brick flat arches over C19 2-light
casements with shouldered lintels. 4 stacks with offsets. Left
return has 2 plat bands, inserted ground-floor window and
entrance, and 2 windows to first floor. Rear has 3 gabled
wings, that to centre with end stack over 2 lunettes, with C20
infill between.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
C20 single-storey block connects this item with east service
range of Walton Hall (qv).
