House, now 3 houses. 1773, restored late C20. Coursed
millstone grit with tooled ashlar dressings. Stone slate roof
to front and asbestos tiles to rear. 2 stone gable stacks with
watertabling.
EXTERIOR: 2 storey plus attic and basement. Flush ashlar
quoins.
Street front has symmetrical 3 window range. Central doorway
has C20 door under heavy lintel and in ashlar surround. Above
the lintel is a diamond shaped plaque inscribed:- 'R/ J D/
1773'. The doorway is flanked by single 3-light mullion
windows. Above central 2-light casement window, with original
mullion removed, flanked by single 3-light mullion windows.
All mullions are flush replacements. C20 diamond leaded pane
casements throughout. At basement level to left 2 blocked
mullioned openings, and bench mark.
Left return has doorway with plank door and painted ashlar
surround plus to left C20 casement window in similar surround.
Above similar window and above again to attic 2-light mullion
window.
Right return has blocked 2-light mullioned window at attic
level and towards rear 2-light casement window, originally
larger.
Rear elevation has C20 stable door, and inserted C20 window to
right.
INTERIOR: No.31, ground floor only inspected, has fireplace
with heavy squared stone surrounds to both parlour, and
principal room. Some beams remain, many replaced.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: front doorway reached up attached stone
perrons or ramps with iron railings with barley-sugar
balusters and finials, that to extreme right broken.
