House. 1841. Stucco over brick with hipped slate roof; end and
ridge stucco stacks with cornices; iron balconies.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with basement, 3 first-floor windows.
Stucco detailings includes tall pilasters to ends and between
windows with recessed panels; banded rustication to ground
floor drawn into voussoirs over windows; first-floor band;
tooled architraves, sills and cornices on brackets to
first-floor windows; cornice over first floor acts as sill
band to second floor; wide eaves on brackets. 6/6 sashes
except second floor has 3/6. Central entrance: flight of steps
to 2-columnar fluted Ionic porch with 2 outer Doric pillars,
dentil frieze and dentil cornice; 6-panel door with segmental
fanlight. Similar 3-window left return; 2-window return to
North Place with iron balconies to first floor.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: part of the development of this area
undertaken for Joseph Pitt, 1825-42.
