Terraced house and attached railings. c1820-34, shown on
Merrett's Map of 1834, but not on the Post Office Map of 1820.
Brick with stucco facade and mansard slate roof, stucco end
stacks, iron balconies and railings. Double depth plan.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with basement and attics, 3 first-floor
windows. Stucco detailing includes horizontal rustication to
ground floor, first-floor band surmounted by tall Ionic
pilasters through first and second floors to ends and between
windows, frieze, architrave and cornice with blocking course.
6/6 sashes throughout, those to first floor are taller and in
tooled architraves with cornices. All in plain reveals. 2
dormer windows. Entrance to left a 3-panel door with
side-lights and overlight in solid Tuscan porch. Rear has 8/8
sashes, some with margin-lights.
INTERIOR: retains original joinery, otherwise not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: individual balconies to first-floor
windows have web motif supplied by Carron Company and shown in
the 1823/4 catalogue; similar design at Nos 15 and 17 Rodney
Road (qv). Area railings have lattice motif, and with stick
balusters to basement.
