GV II

Walls, piers, gates and railings. c1864 by WH Knight. Quadrant
walls in rough-faced ashlar. Panels of iron railings with leaf
enrichment at intervals. End piers and central taller gate
piers with drum-capping. Enriched iron double gates and
further pedestrian gate at left leading to Lodge (qv). Gateway
approx 70m in length.
HISTORICAL NOTE: the competition for the cemetery was won by
Knight in 1862.
