Terrace of nine houses and attached railings to Nos 12, 13, 17 and 20; numbered right to left, described left to right. c1810-30: Nos 15-20 shown on 1820 map, Nos 12-14 on 1834 map. Double depth plan with service ranges to rear. Ashlar over brick with slate roof and tall brick and stucco party-wall stacks; iron railings, with cast- and wrought-iron verandahs to Nos 13 and 15, and balcony to Nos 19 and 20; ground-floor window guards to No.16.

EXTERIOR: three storeys with basement, attic to No.15; 19 first-floor windows (two per house, except No.12 has three). First-floor band. Mainly 6/6 sashes where original, otherwise 1/1, taller to first floor; some 8/8 sashes to basements, all in plain reveals and with sills (those to Nos 17 and 18 on feet). Attic dormers: mid-C20 casements. Entrances to right of each house: flight of roll-edged steps (where original) to five-and six-panel doors, some part-glazed, with fanlights (where original with batwing-and-circle glazing bars).

INTERIOR: not inspected.

SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: No.20 has flattened spearhead forecourt railings with urn finials to stanchions and an overthrow and gate with decorative scrolls; otherwise area and boundary railings have stick balusters, some embellished and with panels of scrolled hearts; window guards to No.16 have rods embellished with star and fleurs-de-lys. Nos 19 and 20 each have continuous first-floor balcony with rods embellished with flower motif; Nos 13 and 15 have verandahs with similar balustrades and scroll and lattice motifs to the uprights.

HISTORICAL NOTE: Cambray Place was a wide avenue leading to Cambray House, at one time rented by the Duke of Wellington but since demolished and replaced by a mid-C20 block of flats.
