Villa. c1827-34, with later C19 additions and alterations.
Probably by either John Forbes or WA Watson, architects.
Stucco over brick with slate roof, tall lateral stucco stacks
with cornices; iron railings.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys on basement, main 2-first-floor window
range with service range set back at left. Flight of steps to
off-centre entrance a part-glazed door and overlight with
margin-lights in fluted distyle Ionic porch with architrave,
frieze and cornice; porch glazed to sides with plate-glass
widows with margin-lights. Windows: above porch an 8-pane
French window with divided overlight, otherwise 1/1 sashes,
all in tooled architraves, that to ground floor has panelled
apron, frieze and cornice on console brackets; canted bay
window to left range. Crowning frieze, cornice and low parapet
with copings, continues to return. Right return (to Evesham
Road): 2 storeys on basement, 3 first-floor windows. 1/1
sashes, all in tooled architraves, those to ground floor have
frieze and cornice on console brackets and aprons with
decorative panels. 3/3 sashes to basement.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: railings to sides of steps have
embellished rod balusters.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Built as part of the development of this area
undertaken for Joseph Pitt, 1825-42, the general layout being
designed by the architect John Forbes.
Occupies an important corner site with Evesham Road.
