Pair of semi-detached villas. c1830-50. Stucco over brick with
slate roof, tall stuccoed end stacks (2 per side) with
oversailing courses. Regency Gothic.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys on basement, 4 first-floor windows
(1:2:1). Wide, gabled end ranges break forward. Stucco
detailing includes quoins to angles and to raised party-wall;
ground-floor band; moulded first-floor band surmounted to
centre by balustrade with concentric circles; ground and
first-floor windows in roll-moulded surrounds with scroll to
shoulder. First floor has paired round-arched, 1/1 horned
sashes; ground floor similar triple windows to outer bays.
Flights of roll-edged steps to central entrances, 3-panel
doors with fanlights, in tooled architraves. Basements have
triple 1/1 sashes separated by double-chamfered 'mullions'.
INTERIOR: noted as retaining original joinery and plasterwork.
An identical design to Nos 44 and 46, and 48 and 50 Painswick
Road (qqv).
