Terrace of 14 houses. c1823. Ashlar over brick, now painted to
most houses, with concealed roof and iron balcony.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and basement, 41 first-floor windows: 2 to
left, then 3 sash windows to each house, and with entrance bay
to left. Horizontal rustication to ground floor; ground- and
first-floor bands; crowning frieze, cornice and blocking
course; to ends and between every second house are pilasters,
several with sunk panels. Ground and first floors have 6/6
sashes where original, 3/3 sashes to second floor. Entrances
mainly to right, steps to double 4-panel doors, Nos 12-26 have
fanlights with decorative glazing, otherwise with overlights;
entrance to No.10 in bay to left has similar doors with
overlight. Rear retains many 6/6 sashes (some with margin
lights), 8/8 sashes and some 10/10 sashes.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: continuous first-floor balcony has
lattice motif to Nos 10-26; Nos 28-36 have continuous Carron
Company heart-and-anthemion motif balconies.
