Sandford House and attached railings

GV II

Villa and attached railings. c1840. Render over brick with
hipped slate roof, end brick stacks and iron porch and
railings.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys on basement, 5 first-floor windows
arranged 2:3; to right a full-height canted bay. Stucco
detailing includes quoins to angles and canted bay;
first-floor band; tooled architraves to first-floor windows at
right. 1/1 sashes throughout in plain reveals and with sills;
first-floor windows to left and to centre of bay have blind
boxes. Basement has 1/1 sashes. Flight of roll-edged steps to
off-centre entrance a 6-panel door with fanlight with radial
glazing bars. Wide eaves with decorative barge-boards.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: porch has anthemion and scroll motif to
uprights and frieze. Railings to sides of steps have ornate
balusters.
