Pair of semi-detached villas and attached area railings.
c1820-32. Stucco over brick with hipped slate roof to left,
mock slates to right, party-wall stack and wrought- and iron
railings and window guards.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys on basement, 6 first-floor windows. Plan:
main 4-window range with hipped roof and 2-storey entrance
bays slightly set back to sides, these now have single-window
first floors. Stucco detailing includes plinth, pilasters with
sunk panels to ends and centre of original main range which
interrupt tooled first-floor band; frieze; end pilasters. 6/6
sashes throughout, basement has 6/6 and 8/8 sashes; all in
plain reveals and with sills. End entrances, flights of 5
roll-edged steps to 6-fielded-panel doors, that to left part
glazed, with fanlights with Gothic glazing bars. Wide eaves to
central range and low parapets with copings to end bays.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: ground floor has window guards with
embellished lattice motif. Area railings have scrolled lozenge
motif. Arrowhead railings to sides of steps have bars and
dogbars and stanchions with urn finials.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Park Place was developed by 1832.
