2 semi-detached villas. c1820-32. Stucco over brick with
hipped slate roof and central stucco stack and brick rear
stack; iron porch and verandah. L-shaped on plan with side
hallways and service ranges at rear.
EXTERIOR: main range of 2 storeys on basement with 2-storey
entrance bay set back to left, 4 first-floor windows arranged
1:2:1. Stucco detailing includes first-floor band to left and
central pilasters through ground and first floors with sunk
panel. 6/6 sashes where original, taller to ground floor, at
right a canted bay has 8-pane French window with margin-lights
between 4-pane lights and with dentil frieze. End entrance to
left: flight of steps to 5-panel door (the upper panels raised
and fielded, lower with fluted surrounds) with fanlight. Right
return (to Ashford Road): 1:2 first-floor windows (range at
right breaks forward). First floor has two 6/6 sashes and
blind window. Basement has 3/6 sashes. Ground floor: central
entrance, 5 steps to 3-panel door with margin-lights and
overlight with glazing bars, recessed in round-arched
surround. Wide eaves.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Porch to left has scrolled uprights and
openwork frieze. Verandah has X-motif balustrade and fretted
timber uprights.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Park Place was developed by 1832.
Forms a group with and abuts Nos 20-36 (even) Park Place
(qqv).
