Villa and attached railings. c1820-50. Stucco, scored in
imitation of ashlar over brick with concealed roof and iron
porch.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys on basement, 3 first-floor windows. End
bays break forwards and are pedimented, with stacks rising
above. Stucco detailing to breakforwards includes wide end
pilasters to ground floor surmounted by continuous deep frieze
with elliptical arches forming recesses over windows;
continuous first-floor sill band; first floor breakforwards
have end Doric pilasters; continuous frieze and entablature.
6/6 sashes in plain reveals throughout and with sills to
ground floor. Basement has 3/6 sashes. Flight of steps to
central entrance, double 6-panel doors with overlight with
margin lights. Left return has 3 first-floor windows. Similar
stucco detailing (but without pedimented breakforwards). 6/6
sashes, taller to ground floor.
INTERIOR: noted as retaining original joinery including
panelled shutters.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: porch has ornate scrolled hearts to
uprights and frieze; railings to sides of steps have scrolled
lozenge motif.
Occupies an important corner site and forms a group with (and
continuation of) Nos 1-7 Clarence Road (qv).
