2 terraced houses, now flats. Numbered right to left,
described left to right. c1806 with later additions and
alterations including those c1860-90 to No.5. Stucco over
brick with concealed roof.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, that to right has attic, 4 first-floor
windows (2:2). Stucco detailing includes stepped voussoirs
over first- and second-floor windows to left, tooled
architraves with keystones to ground- and first-floor windows
to right; entrance to right house has Gibbs surround. Windows,
to left house are 6/6 sashes to first floor, 3/6 sashes to
second floor and canted bay with 1/1 sashes with lugs to
ground floor. Right house has stepped triple round-arched
window to ground floor with 1/1 sashes; first floor has
tripartite sash with 1/1 sashes and 2/2 horizontal-pane sash;
second floor has casements. Attic roof dormer has casements.
Entrances both at right sides: to No 6 a round-arched opening
with 6-fielded-panel door with lozenge motif to frieze and
fanlight with circle and leaf motif, to No.5 a wide opening
with two 4-panel doors, one part-glazed. Crowning cornice to
right, copings to left.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: St George's Square was laid out from 1806
onwards on Rack Close field.
