Villa, abutting No.17. c1830-40 with later additions and
alterations. Brick with ornate painted-stucco facade under
hipped slate roof. Pair of stacks to each end-wall, all with
oversailing details and pots. Ornamental cast-iron gutter with
lion's head bosses to front elevation.
PLAN: double-depth, tapers to accommodate corner site,
entrance at right of principle elevation. Single-storey
service-ranges to rear left.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys. 3 first-floor windows. Stucco detailing
includes quoins; rusticated surround to ground-floor windows,
ground-floor sills supported on 2 pairs of corbel brackets;
first-floor windows have architraves, decorated frieze,
console brackets and cornice; the second-floor windows have a
continuous sill band with corbels, panelled pilasters
surmounted by continuous full-width guilloche frieze and
dentil cornice; Doric-style doorcase with cornice extending
full-width of facade. All sashes are 6/6 in reveals. 2
roll-edged steps to entrance archway, open lobby with ceramic
tiled floor and modillion cornice to ceiling, 5-panel door,
top 4 raised and fielded, bottom panel flush- beaded with
incised elliptical motif, radial pattern fanlight. 12/9
semi-circular-headed staircase window to left (east) return
elevation.
INTERIOR: believed to retain original decorative plasterwork
and joinery including staircase, shutters and doors.
