House, now shop. Mid C18 with later additions and alterations
including c1970s ground-floor shop front and with
restorations. Pinkish-red brick in Flemish bond with stone
sills and keystones and concealed roof. 3 storeys, 2
first-floor windows. First and second floors have 6/6 sashes,
taller to second floor, with moulded sills and flat gauged
brick arches. Low coped parapet. late glass shop front to
ground floor with left glazed door.
INTERIOR: the ground floor has apparently been gutted leaving
no evidence of the original plan form.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Forms part of a significant group of listed
buildings including Church of St Nicholas, Premises occupied
by Lloyds Bank, Premises occupied by Costa, Premises occupied
by Bradford and Bingley Building Society and Nos 20, 21 and
31, The Cross (qqv). These all form an important visual
framework for this entrance to the city centre.
