House, now offices. Late C18 with later alterations. Brick,
colourwashed, with concealed roof. 3 storeys, 4 first-floor
windows. Right part set back slightly. 6/6 near-flush-frame
ashes throughout with sills and flat arches of gauged brick.
Central entrance a 6-panel door with fanlight and open
pediment on corbels. Crowning low, coped parapet, raised to
centre.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Occupies an important position at the junction of The Tything,
Foregate Street, St Mary's Street and Castle Street. No.1 and
Nos 4 to 7 (consecutive) form a group with Nos 51 to 54
(consecutive) and Nos 57 and 58 (qqv). This group forms a
visual approach to listed buildings in Foregate Street (qqv).
