Eight terrace houses, stepped downhill from No.1 to left. c1812 with later C19 alterations.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, double pitched slate roofs (late C19 mansards with paired dormer windows to Nos. 5 and 6, and triple dormer window to No.7) with higher rear ranges, moulded stacks to party walls and right coped gable end.
PLAN: Off-square double depth plans with chamfered corner to right of No. 8.
EXTERIOR: Two storeys with attics and basements, each house comprises a two-window front with doors to the left. Returned coped parapets, cornices and plinths. Each house has two painted semicircular arched recesses to ground floor, those to left of each narrower with decorative overlights to set back six panel doors. Small low windows to left of doors covered by cast iron scroll grilles. Formerly with six/six pane sash windows. No.1 has plate glass sash window to ground floor. Left return has three blind windows to each floor similar to those at front. No. 2 has six/six pane sashes with balconette to ground floor. No. 3 similar with balconnettes to first floor. Nos. 4, 5 and 6 have six/six pane sashes. No.7 has plate glass sash to ground floor and lamp bracket on trellised support. No. 8 has plate glass sashes with balconettes. Right return has blind windows similar to those at front with three small circular recesses to sides and centre of ground floor, that to centre glazed. Mostly six/six pane sash windows to rear.
INTERIORS: Not inspected.
HISTORY: Part of the early development of Bathwick Hill, possibly overseen by John Pinch the Elder. The scale of these houses is lesser than the other terraces on the street.
