Strumble Cottage and attached wall and gatepiers

GV II

House built against retaining wall to The Retreat (qv) to right. Early/mid C19.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, roof unseen with moulded stacks to left return.
PLAN: Double depth plan.
EXTERIOR: Two storeys and basement, two-window range. Coped parapet rises to meet stacks to left return, stopped cornice, ground floor platband, raised eared surrounds and bracketed sills to six/six-pane sash windows, five-panel door glazed to top to right. Left return has two windows.
INTERIOR: not inspected but noted as being early C19.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Rubblestone retaining wall, coped ashlar to top, approx 4m high extends forward from right hand corner for approx 20m to meet front wall and chamfered rusticated gatepiers with moulded cornices, block tops and small C20 ball finials.
