Five terrace houses to right hand end. Early C19 with later additions.
MATERIALS: Painted limestone ashlar and render, double pitched roofs with moulded stacks to party walls, wrought iron railings to steps up to doors.
PLAN: Double depth plans.
EXTERIOR: Originally two storeys with basements, one and two-window range. Coped parapets and stepped cornices. No.15 to left single window range with splayed reveals to six/six-pane sash windows, six-panel door to left glazed to top in simple enclosed porch with consoles to upper corners. No.16 painted limestone ashlar, two-window range with splayed reveals to plate glass sash windows and railings to left of steps up to six-panel door to right glazed to top. Parapets of No.15 and 16 are continuous. No.17 slightly lower than the adjacent houses, two-window range with plate glass sash windows, those to first floor with balconettes. Diagonal crosses to railings fronting area rise to left of steps up to four-panel door to right glazed to top, in porch similar to that of No.15. No.18 slightly taller than adjacent houses with returned cornice, plate glass sash windows, those to first floor with balconettes, six-panel door to left, glazed to top and in similar porch to No.15. No.19 two-window range with six/six-pane sash windows, those to first floor with balconettes, six-pane door to left in porch similar to that of No.15.
INTERIORS: Not inspected.
HISTORY: Terrace, once called Coffin Batch is said to have been built to house gardeners of municipal gardens and each house was provided with two apple trees, some of which still survive.
