House in row, with shop. Late C18.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, double Roman tile roof.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement, three windows, all sashes, central two-light dormer in mansard roof, above twelve-pane in architraves at second and first floors, with cornices and central pediment to first floor. Ground floor has C18 small-pane oriel shopfronts in four:twenty:four-panes each side of part-glazed door in reeded architrave, to right further and later four:sixteen:four-pane oriel shop window, with door to left. Pavement grilles to basement lights. Deep platband above ground floor, continuous wood lintel above first floor, sill band to second floor, modillion cornice with blocking course, raised as full attic at right hand end, and parapet, coped party divisions. Parish boundary sign ST.M.P cut into masonry towards right.
INTERIOR: Not inspected.
HISTORY: Formerly rather a grand town house, with more architectural pretension than others in street. Thomas Baldwin held these leases, and may have been involved in this development.
