Pair of houses at end of incomplete terrace. Early C19.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, concrete tile or slate roof. Double roof with central valley, hipped behind parapet to the right.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys and basement, each two windows; No.2 has six/twelve pane, remainder are plain. To right in each is six panel door with narrow transom light, and glazed lean-to over basement window. Ground floor channelled, with deep platband carrying paired Doric giant pilasters at each end, and threaded sill band at second floor; paired end bays slightly stepped forward. Entablature has blocking course, raised slightly at pilastered ends. Coped gables with deep stacks. Parapet returns, right, above plain wall in coursed and squared stone.
INTERIORS: Not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Across frontage, and returned at right hand end are simple spiked railings on stone curb, without gates.
HISTORY: These houses form the end pair in what was intended to be a terrace of twenty one houses; matching pair and five others at left hand end were not built. (See also Nos 6-18, 20, 22, and 24; 26 and 28).
