House, now flats. c1783 with C19 alterations. Developed by John Fielder and Thomas and James Beale.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar to front, painted to ground floor, not visible to rear; double pile parapeted mansard roof, artificial slate to front, not visible to rear, with coped party wall to left with ashlar stack to front roof, not visible to rear.
PLAN: Brunswick Place quasi-symmetrical composition with terminating pavilions breaking forward to left and right (Nos 1 and 6) and horizontal elements of design continuous throughout (cf. Burlington Place qv). Staircase to front.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement, three window front. First floor has three plate glass horned sashes in splayed reveals. Second floor has three six/six sashes in splayed reveals with stone sills. Ground floor has to left two plate glass horned sashes in splayed reveals with stone sills, to right six panel door with flush beaded, fielded and glazed panels with one concrete step in pedimented Doric doorcase, small tilting window in plain reveal with stone sill to right; one step to Pennant paved crossover. Basement has two six/six sashes in splayed reveals with continuous stone sill, four panel door with three pane overlight under crossover, no area steps. Double dormer with plate glass sashes. Band course over ground floor, weathered sill band to first floor, bracketed eaves cornice and coped parapet. Lead hopperhead at eaves to right. Rear elevation not visible.
INTERIOR: Not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Attached wrought iron railings and gate with shaped heads on painted limestone bases.
