Two houses forming the middle and west end of terrace, set at right-angle to road. Mid C19. with C20 alterations.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, slate roofs.
EXTERIOR: Two storeys and basements. No.8, to left: symmetrical three-window front, six/six-pane sash windows with small square window over central door. Ground floor stepped forward beneath string course; C20 door with overlight. No.9, to right: a symmetrical three-window front with plate glass sash windows flanking late C19 leaded window over shallow pediment and reeded pilasters to central door. Right return has hipped roof over canted bay, with shouldered arch to French windows, looking westwards over the Kennet and Avon canal.
