Six terrace houses. c1795 altered late C19 and C20.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, double pitched mansard roof with paired raking dormers and moulded stacks to coped party walls. PLAN: Double depth plans.
EXTERIOR: Each house has three storeys, attics and basements, three-window range. Moulded coping to parapet, cornice, frieze, sill bands to upper floors and plinth, formerly with six/six-pane sash windows, now mostly plate glass, except for No. 6, houses have moulded architrave with narrow pilasters to eight-panel door with overlight to left of each house sweeps down and out to meet plinth, moulded architrave to window above. No. 6 has plate glass sash windows and plain architrave to door. Nos. 7-10 have higher roofs, pediment with dentil cornice over first floor left hand window over door, ground floor window set in segmental arched recess. No. 9 retains thin glazing bars to six/six-pane sash windows. No. 10 has similar windows to upper floors and early C20 rectangular bay with stone mullions to five light ground floor window.
INTERIORS: Not inspected but noted as having panelled shutters. No. 8 inspected by Bath Council 1973, original cantilevered stone staircase. No. 9 partially inspected by Bath Council 1981, original cantilevered stone staircase, Doric newels.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Basement areas are fronted by good spearhead railings which sweep up to wide landings fronting doors and with gates to basements. No. 8 has fine scrolled overthrow for former lamps.
HISTORY: An advertisement dated 25th September 1794 offered `2 unfinished houses now erecting and shop adjoining situate in Edward Street'.
