Formerly known as: No.5 (The Old Hetling Court Pump Room), Hot Bath Street and Hetling Court. Pump Room, now offices. 1804 (possibly 1792), by John Palmer.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, slate roof.
PLAN: Compact square block, backing onto Abbey Church House (qv), projects forward, with former entrance from Hetling Court now blocked.
EXTERIOR: Three floors, principal elevation faces Old Hot Bath, and in three-bays, with twelve-pane sashes to plain reveals in upper two floors, blind centre light to second floor, ground floor has three large arched lights with twelve-pane sash and radial bars, in sunk surrounds, and with moulded impost band. Rusticated plinth rises to ground floor sills, and moulded string above ground and first floors, latter contained within narrow full height quoin pilasters, stopped with simple capital to main cornice, with blocking course and parapet. Painted band above ground floor printed words `HETLING PUMP ROOM' can still be discerned. Entrance to left, in adjoining property. Return, facing Hetling Court, in four-bays, first one blind, and with sashes in architraves, twelve-pane at first and second floors and fifteen-pane to ground floor. Set to left deep portico on four unfluted Doric columns with two responds, carrying flat entablature, over doorway with bolection mould surround and sidelights, all blocked. Steel external fire stair rises above portico. Bands and cornice are continued from main front, and to right large ashlar stack.
