Terrace house. 1764-1770 with C19 alterations.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, concrete tile roof.
PLAN: Generous town house with double mansard roof, with entrance and staircase to left.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement, three windows, mainly plain sashes, but two dormers with casement windows. Basement has twelve-pane, and except for second floor windows in splay surrounds. To left five-panel door in architrave, with pediment on pilasters with consoles. Platband above ground floor, modillion cornice stopped to ends, blocking course and parapet, straight joint each side of house. Coped party division, with deep ashlar stack, right. Rear also in ashlar, in two-bays with mainly plain sashes, staggered.
INTERIOR: Not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Across front, enclosing basement area, simple railings on stone curb, returned at doorway.
HISTORY: The external fabric reveals the staggered building history of the row. The full terrace has broad consistency of detail, but with variations in elevation, building in small sections, marked by straight joints. House is also unusual in having a three-window front.
