Four terrace houses with shops, stepped. c1830 with C20 alterations.
MATERIALS: Rendered with painted ashlar dressings, slate, double Roman tile or concrete tile roof.
PLAN: No.1 attached to south side of Rosewell House (qv), and terrace runs at angle away to west.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys and attic, each two-bays, all plain sash windows in raised platband surrounds with swept head and foot, to sill band and brackets at second floor, and sills to pairs, on brackets, at first floor. Upper sill band swept down at each party division. No.1 has moulded cornice with blocking course and parapet, and mansard roof with concrete tile and small two-light dormer, with full width C20 shopfront, entrance to right, stack to rear, very narrow rear has large sash above doorway. Nos 2 and 3 have low pitched slate roof, C19 pilaster shopfront with door to right to No.3 and wide elliptical arch in channelled stone surround with keystone to No.2. To rear are plain sashes, large stack at coped party division. No.4 has steep roof with double Roman tile, tall plain sash dormer, brick stack to right, and C20 shopfront. Rear has sundry additions and plain sash, with sash dormer.
INTERIORS: Not inspected.
HISTORY: These houses constitute a modest but important survival in an area with suffered very considerable loss through war damage.
